The Voyage To Charleston

We motor-sailed up the ICW towards Charleston from Beaufort today. It was a quiet day, so I spent the majority of my time finishing up my first book on the trip, Irene Nemirovsky’s All Our Worldly Goods. Irene Nemirovsky is my favorite author hands down. I have read all of her works that have been published thus far and have loved every one of them.

Besides reading for most of the day, other highlights included an alligator crossing our path, listening to The Lumineers, arriving in Charleston in time to see the Wednesday night sailing race and drinking some champagne that was a going away gift from our friends, Josh and Makayla.

The Lumineers, an incredible band!

Coming in from the Wednesday night sail race.

After being on the boat all day, Matt, Adrian and I stopped in at Salty Mike’s, a bar at the Charleston City Marina, to have a cocktail. There, we befriended a really nice yacht captain named, Scott, who was from Miami. He was kind enough to invite us back to the yacht he was chartering to have a drink and share some stories of chartering for the rich and famous. Always a fun night when you make new friends!
